GRE - Graduate Record Examinations Test
Introduction
The GRE® General Test is a standardized aptitude test that measures abstract thinking in areas such as reading comprehension, writing and mathematics. The GRE is available online and at ITAS testing centers in Pakistan.
The GRE® Subject Tests are achievement tests that tests the knowledge base of doctoral candidates in three fields i.e. Mathematics, Physics and Psychology.
GRE® General Test
The GRE General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills-skills that have been developed over a long period of time and are not related to a specific field of study but are important for all. The test closely aligns with the types of skills that are required for success in today’s demanding graduate programs, including business and law. The test is administered throughout the year on computer at Prometric® test centers. The General Test may also be offered on specific dates at additional testing locations outside of the Prometric test center network. Test Structure
The GRE General Test is composed of Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections. Testing times are listed below.
Analytical Writing:
one section with one timed writing task-30 minutes.
Verbal Reasoning:
two 41-minute sections- 27 questions in total.
Quantitative Reasoning:
two 47-minute sections- 27 questions in total.

GRE® Subject Tests
The GRE Subject Tests measure achievement in specific subject areas and assume undergraduate majors or extensive background in those disciplines. These tests are available in the following disciplines:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Psychology
GRE Subject Tests are computer-delivered tests administered worldwide, three times a year within Pakistan. Testing time is 2 hours and 50 minutes for the mathematics test and 2 hours for Physics and Psychology. Test Takers with Disabilities or Health related Needs

Registration Checklist
Before you begin the registration process, review the checklist below to familiarize yourself with the various policies and procedures, available services, and registration options.
- Check the test fees at https://www.ets.org/gre/test-takers/general-test/register/fees.html. The GRE general exam fee for Pakistan is $220.
- Read the reschedule and cancellation policies. Refer to the section on this page below.
- Read and understand the ID requirements. You are responsible for presenting valid and acceptable ID when you report to a test center and it must match the first and last name you used when creating your account and registering for your test.
- Decide when you would like to take the test.
- The test is offered year-round on a first-come, first served basis from Mondays to Thursdays except local and religious holidays. View seat availability for your preferred date and location.
- Be sure to allow sufficient time for score reporting when scheduling your test so you can meet the admissions deadlines for the schools to which you are applying.
- Create an ETS account to get the most up-to-date test center information.
- Determine which graduate institutions or fellowship sponsors you want to receive your scores. As part of your test fee, you can designate up to four score recipients.
- If you prefer to send score reports later or want to send score reports to more than four recipients, you can send additional score reports for a fee.

Name guidelines
The first and last name you use when you register-and the spelling of that name-must exactly match (excluding accents) the name printed on the ID documents that you will present on the day of the test. If it does not, you may be prohibited from taking the test or your test scores may be cancelled after you take the test.
- Be sure to provide your entire first (given) name (excluding accents). Do not register under a nickname and do not register with only an initial as your first name.
- You must supply your entire last (family/surname) name.
- If your ETS account has already been created, confirm that the name on your ID documents still matches the name that appears in your account.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that your ID documents match the name that appears on your account.
ID Policy
All test takers in Pakistan must use either a valid passport or a valid state issued SMART National Identity Card as their ID (Identification Documents). Without these IDs, you will not be admitted at the Test Center on your test date. If the passport does not have a signature, then the candidate should provide a supplemental ID which includes, CNIC, Driver’s license, Student ID or Letter of Identification from a school. All the IDs must be original, non- expired and without having any cancelled stamp on them.

Refund Policy
Test Registration
If you cancel your registration no later than four days before your test date, you will automatically receive a refund equivalent to half of the test fee.
- Cash refunds are not available.
- There are no refunds for test preparation materials, additional services, or service fees.
- Refunds will be processed in the same currency and credited back to the original payment method. If the original payment was a paper check or money order, allow eight weeks after your cancellation for your refund to be processed. Note: If for any reason the refund cannot be processed, an ETS representative may need to contact you. Please ensure your GRE contact information is accurate.
- Refunds will not be given if you do not follow proper registration procedures and/or fail to present the required identification documents on test day.
Scores and Score Report
As part of your test fee, you may request that scores be sent to as many as 4 graduate institutions or fellowship sponsors. For the computer-based GRE® revised General Test, you will be asked to designate your score recipients at the end of your test. If an institution is not listed, ask the test center administrator for the appropriate form to indicate unlisted institutions. Complete the form and turn it in before you leave the test center. The form will not be accepted after you leave the test center.
You will view unofficial Verbal and Quantitative scores at the test center; however, because of the essay scoring process, you will not view your Analytical Writing score at that time. Test centers cannot provide printed copies of score reports. Official Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing scores will be sent to you and the score recipients you designated within 4-6 weeks after you take the test.

Retaking a GRE Test
You can take the GRE General Test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). This applies even if you cancelled your scores on a test taken previously. You may take the GRE Subject Tests as often as they are offered.
The Retake policy will be enforced even if a violation is not immediately identified (e.g., inconsistent registration information) and test scores have been reported. In such cases, the invalid scores will be cancelled and score recipients will be notified of the cancellation. Test fees will be forfeited.

PTE - Pearson Test of english
What is the Pearson Test of English:
The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is an English language proficiency exam that measures English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a single, short computer test. It focuses on day-to-day English rather than high-level English language and test the candidate’s ability to effectively understand the language as spoken in everyday life. The test provides a score on the Global Scale of English (GSE), which is a multi-level grading system.
Types of PTE Exams:
There are two types of PTE offered – PTE Academic and PTE Core.
- PTE Academic– measures English speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a single, two-hour test session. The test-takers don’t have to wait for the speaking exam. This exam is suitable for students looking to pursue foreign university admissions. PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of institutions worldwide, including some of the most prestigious universities.
- PTE Core – similar to PTE Academic but is geared more towards test-takers aiming to pursue immigration and work opportunities in Canada . The format of the exam is exactly like the PTE Academic exam in which a candidate is tested listening, reading, speaking and writing.
Where is the PTE score accepted?
PTE Academic scores open doors to 3,000+ universities, colleges, and professional bodies globally, including Oxford University, Harvard Business School, Columbia University, and Macquarie University. Please see the complete list of universities attached.
It is also approved for all UK, Australian, and New Zealand visa and immigration categories.
When and where can test-takers appear for the PTE:
PTE Academic is taken on a computer in a secure and friendly test center environment.
USEFP Islamabad recently began administering the PTE Academic from June 6, 2022. However, the PTE Academic is also offered at other test centers in Pakistan. USEFP plans to offer PTE Academic in Lahore soon.
How to register for PTE Academic:
The test is booked online by the by the test-taker 24 hours in advance and is available round the year. The fee for the PTE Academic is $215. To book your test, test-taker will first need to create a myPTE account. The test-taker will follow the ‘Sign in’ button at the top of the website to start the process. Candidates can only reigsiter online and pay the test fee either through a credit card or debit card.
Rescheduling or cancelling PTE test:
The candidates have the option to reschedule or cancel test booking at any time. The reschedule policy is as follows.
If the candidate reschedule, 14 days or more before test day, there will be no additional cost. Between 8 to 13 days before test day, the candidate will be charged 50% of the rescheduled test fee. If the test is rescheduled 7 days or fewer before test day, full test fee will be charged.
Cancellation policy:
If the candidate cancels, 14 days or more before the test day, there will be a full refund. Between 8 to 13 days before test day, the candidate will be eligible for a 50% refund of the original test fee. If the test is rescheduled 7 days or fewer before test day, there will be no refund and all exam fee will be forfeited by the candidate.
What is the eligibility criteria for taking the PTE?
Pearson Vue has not laid down any specific criteria for taking the test. However, students willing to take the test must be 18 years of age. Students below the age of 18 need a parental consent form in order to book an appointment and take the exam.
What is the PTE exam pattern?
Four skills are assessed in the Pearson Test of English- Academic namely reading, listening, writing and speaking. There are twenty different types of questions in the test that range from multiple choice answers to essay writing.

How are test-takers scored?
When test-takers complete PTE Academic test, they receive a Score Report and a Skills Profile to help them understand test score, language skill level and required improvements.
What will test- taker see on score report?
- an Overall Score of between 10 and 90, which grades English ability against the Global Scale of English
- individual scores for communicative skills – speaking, listening, reading, and writing

- Guidance on test-takers performance across eight language skill categories

What score do test-takers need?
Each institution chooses how to set scores. Typically, test-takers will need to achieve the following minimum scores:
- Foundation courses: minimum score of between 36–50
- Undergraduate degrees: minimum score of between 51–60
- Postgraduate degrees: minimum score between of 57–67
ID Policy:
For test-takers in Pakistan, the only acceptable identification document for PTE Academic is an original, valid passport. Candidates without a passport will not be admitted for the exam.
For test-takers in Pakistan, the acceptable identification documents for PTE UKVI Academic is original valid Passport and a Smart National Identity Card (SNIC). Candidates without any of these identity documents will not be admitted for the exam.

GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Test
GMAT is a computer adaptive test owned by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The test assesses analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.
Being one of the most widely recognized management tests, the GMAT is accepted at more than 2,000 business schools worldwide.
ID Policy:
All test takers in Pakistan must present a valid passport as their ID (Identification Document). Please note that without a passport, you will not be admitted at the Test Center on your test date.
The passport you present must:
- be valid, original, and legible
- bear your name in the Roman alphabet exactly as you provided when you made your test appointment (including the order and placement of the names)
- have your date of birth exactly as the date provided when you made your test appointment
- include a recent, recognizable photograph and your signature and date of birth
Test Availability:
GMAT tests are available two days a month mostly on alternative Fridays between 09:00 am and 02:00 pm at ITAS Islamabad.

Reschedule/Cancel exam:
You can reschedule your GMAT exam at any available test center around the world. If you reschedule more than 7 calendar days before the scheduled test date, time, or location, you will need to pay US$50.00 fee (each time you reschedule). If you reschedule within 7 calendar days before the scheduled test date, time, or location, you will have to pay an additional US$250.00 fee
To reschedule your appointment in a country other than the one in which you scheduled your original appointment, please contact GMAT by phone. You may not reschedule your appointment by mail or fax.
Scores and Score Reports:
After 20 days of your test date, once your GMAT scores become reportable you receive a unique link in your email. This email will contain a link with instructions to access your Official Score Report by visiting: www.mba.com/mygmat.
Testing Accommodations:
Testing accommodations otherwise known as “special arrangements” or “reasonable adjustments” are provided by GMAT to individuals with a documented/demonstrated disability. TOEFL iBT® - Test of English as a Foreign Language
The TOEFL iBT® evaluates the English proficiency of students whose native language is not English. The TOEFL iBT® test measures candidate’s ability to use and understand English at the university level and it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.
ID Policy
All test takers in Pakistan must use either a valid passport or a valid state issued SMART National Identity Card as their ID (Identification Documents). It is very important that the name which you register with exactly matches the name appearing on your ID. If there are any name discrepancies, then you would be asked for other valid IDs. Even then, if the name on your presented IDs does not match your registered name, you will be turned away.

Exams Registration
Online
You can register and schedule your TOEFL iBT® Online using a credit card at least seven days prior to your first choice test date. Late registration closes 3 days before your test date (not including the day of the test) and has a late fee of US$40.
Reschedule/Cancel exam
To reschedule or cancel your registration, make your request no later than 3 days before your test date (not including the day of your request or the day of the test). The rescheduling fee is US$60. Your original registration fee must be paid before you can reschedule.
Reschedule or cancel online: Log in to your TOEFL® iBT account, click “View Order(s)” on your home page, and then click “Modify” or “Cancel” on the Order Summary page.
Reschedule or cancel by phone: Provide your registration number and full name used when you registered. From Pakistan please contact Regional Registration Center in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur on +60-3-7628-3333.
Scores and Additional Score Reports:
You can select up to 4 institutions or agencies as score recipients when you register or you can make your selections or change them online until 10 p.m. (local test center time) on the day before the test. To select or change your score recipients, log in to your TOEFL iBT® account and click “View Order(s)” on your home page. Scores are posted online approximately 15 business days after your test date. Allow 4-6 weeks for the delivery of the official score reports. To view your scores online, log in to your TOEFL iBT® account and click “View Scores” on your home page.
In addition to the institutions you select with your registration, you can send your scores to as many institutions as you choose for a fee of US$20 per report.
Additional Score Reports
Order Online: Log in to your TOEFL iBT® account and click “Order Score Reports” on your home page. Then click “TOEFL Services” option. Pay by credit/debit card or e-check.
Order by Fax: Fill out the TOEFL iBT® Official Score Report Request Form. Fax it with your registration number and credit/debit card information to 1-610-290-8972. If you send the same fax more than once, write “DUPLICATE” in large letters on the form to avoid extra charges to your credit/debit card.
Order by Mail: Print and complete the TOEFL iBT® Official Score Report Request Form (PDF) at Scoring Services on your online profile. Mail it with your payment to:
